Easter with the gangs

It is now Easter weekend and I have a special treat for the gangs on Resurrection Sunday. Earlier in the week the college students that I speak to on Monday and Tuesday nights had a gift for me. They had purchased a bunch of  plastic eggs at the dollar store. Inside of each egg they put a single Bible verse. They used either John 3:16 or Jeremiah 29:11. Before they closed each egg up, they put in a chocolate Kiss on top of the verse. When I came to speak to them they handed me this bag with all these eggs in it. Before I had a chance to deliver the eggs to the gang members God had me put money in them. God had me withdrawal $245 in ones earlier in the week.  I thought it was for the students. God said,  “No, I want you to put money in the eggs.”

There was extra cash, so some eggs had $2 or $3 in them. On Sunday morning I arrived at the park early and began to hide the eggs. One thing I didn’t have to worry about is kids finding them since this park was in a dangerous area. When the gang members showed up they already had been looking for me. They were hungry as usual and we had Dr Pepper and burritos to eat. After we finished eating, I had them sit in the bleachers that the park installed because the soccer season started. I told them all to sit down. After they finished sitting they looked at me intently.  I said, “I have a surprise for you. I hid Easter eggs in the park to find.”

With that “you are trying to treat me like a baby look”, they said, “Sonny we don’t do Easter egg hunts anymore.”

I said, “Well then, you are going to miss out on a prize. We will have to have somebody else look for them.”

They were looking at each other to try to figure what their peers might think if they did this. Finally, when they started thinking about the surprise, one man jumped up and began running the course. Then they all decided to give it a try.  One man open his egg right away and yelled, “Wow! This egg has $3 in it.”

That really got them all looking. It did not take long to find all of the eggs. When they begin reading the Bible verses and the fact that they were on an Easter egg hunt brought them back to memories of home. They soon began asking more questions about Jesus Christ and they all decided that they wanted to give their hearts to Jesus Christ and go home. But as usual they wanted to make sure that their home environments were safe to go back to. They always remember their homes like it was when they left. Usually, it is the dads who cause the problem why their sons left.  Those dads began to realize that they need to make a life change and many times that is done by serving Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ has the power to take you away from any addiction. There is great fear when the gang members call home because they feel like nothing will be different. Many times they asked me to stand by them when they call home because they feel more secure. It always makes me cry when I see the son ask for forgiveness from their fathers. The father’s then ask for forgiveness for what they did to make their son leave. When the gang leaders and members see that they’re parents have changed, they are excited to go home.

Again God orchestrated all this through the college students that this Easter egg hunt would be the catalyst for them turning their lives over the Jesus Christ. God gets the glory into victory.

Families Being Blessed and Gangs Being Saved

My most precious times are going down to the ghetto to bless the families. God is made this into such a large ministry that the people we have blessed are worshiping God every Saturday morning when I get there. They physically do not let time ever get their way. The only thing they care about is give glory to our King. Another thing I like is how they anoint everything. I am amazed that families come never know how much each family has received in the past.

When we started this ministry in the ghetto, God was physically sending people to us to the ghetto King Sooper store to bless. But in the last six months or so Lydia and her parents, who were the first ones in the ghetto we blessed. I asked them how they find the families that our King blesses each week. They said, “We started praying for the families that we are to find each week, but God said this is not enough. I want you to go out into the community and talk to people. We also pray for the community before we go out and meet people. We go door-to-door and asked how everybody is doing. We are pretty tightknit community and we basically all know each other.  When I enter a house God will reveal to me that this family is in need. I will ask them how things are going, and they will admit that things are not going as good as they would like it. So Sonny, this is how we find families just by asking. Sometimes when we are talking to one family they will say so and so over there in that house they’re not doing good at all. Things are really tight for them right now. When I find the families I ask them to meet us at the store on Saturday at 10 o’clock. We have a surprise for you. I never mention anything about money but I say come and experience what God can do. You have to walk by faith and not by sight.”

Another thing that is you unusual about Lydia and her family is that they anoint all the doorknobs on the houses they come into contact with. They want these homes to experience the power of God’s blessings.

Before God had us get involved in the ghetto ministry, I use to go see the gangs as early as 10 o’clock. But God had other plans when he had us start this ghetto ministry. God is amazing. It is though he stops time. The time I spend with these families all morning and early afternoon does not interfere with the gangs. They are not ready for me until I get there. The gangs always follow my schedule. That is because of the power of our God. He can do that.

When I finished up with these families today, I headed to the park and where two gangs would be looking for me looking for me. God had me pick up some kites that he was going to use to bring these guys closer together. I did not know who they were, but they knew who I was. They just wanted prayer and they were hungry. They said, “We don’t want to fight anymore. We want to change our lives.”

Whatever God is doing in the gangs right now is amazing. The way God changes their hearts causes many of them to give their lives to Jesus Christ. Their numbers are greatly diminishing. Both of these gangs wanted to go back home but they were not certain if they wanted to go back home because of what their dads did to them to cause them to leave in the first place. They all said, “I am not going to go back to the house that is in the same conditions as I did when I left it.”

I looked at the leaders and replied, “Give me your dad’s phone number and I will call them. I’ll all find out if he’s a drunk for you.”

I called one leaders dad and he answered and asked me who is this. I said, “My name is Sonny and I know your son.” His dad was concerned and asked, “Is my son OK?” I answered, “He is doing great. I am just concerned about how your life is right now. How can I pray for you.”

His dad replied, “I used to be an alcoholic which made him run away from home five years ago. I have not touched one drop of liquor cents that. I’ve given my heart to Jesus Christ and I’m doing activities with the church.”

The other leaders dad said, “I have been crying out to God for my son because I have missed him greatly. I have not touched drugs in over four years now. I now reach for the word of God in place of the drugs.”

The phones were on speaker so both gang leaders and their men could hear what was going on in their family life. This was very encouraging for both gangs. They began to say that their dad’s are Christians now. He is different like the dad I used to know. Both dads told about how they are now actively involved in the church in the youth ministry and other things they do to serve God. When I mentioned that your sons are here by standing next to me, the dads began to cry.

The gang leaders began to ask a lot of questions about our ministry.  I told him that blue Mustang provides food for your breakfast. The gang leaders asked, “Is he a gang leader?”

I replied, “Yes, he’s a gang leader of a Christian gang.”

One leader said, “That’s cool.”

I said, “He got his nickname from the Latinos from the leader Lorenzo.” I was shocked that he knew who I was talking about.

He said, “I like that guy. He’s not mean but man does he ever command the authority. We have a lot of respect for that guy.  You tell blue Mustang thank you for the food because we are always hungry.”

It is amazing how many times when dad’s sons leave the home that there is all life change that goes on in the dad’s because of their sons action. But as I called each family and confirmed to their sons that there was a change that was going on in their home environment, they became excited to go home. Soon a bunch of families and friends started showing up as their sons gave their hearts to Jesus Christ. Many of the family members who hadn’t accepted Jesus Christ did today when they saw what happened when Christ entered the life of their sons. You can listen to the entire story below:

Late February Gang

God had me meet with two gangs on Saturday. One of the gangs I knew and the other one I didn’t. I learned that they are looking for me. I went to a gang’s house that I knew on Saturday. When I arrived the gang leader said, “I am tired of being in the house. I am going to the park.”

I replied, “That’s okay. I will follow you.”

When we arrived the gang leader asked, “Do you have any food?  We are hungry. ”

I said that I did. The gang leader then asked, “I’ve been trying to memorize the Lord’s prayer, but I just don’t seem to get it.”

I said, “Why not just let your heart speak out a prayer.”

The leader said, “I will pray for breakfast for sure.” He looked at his men and said, “If you guys laugh at me, I am going to start shooting.” He laid both of his pistols out on the table. He then turned his focus on me and begin praying for breakfast. I cracked my eyes a bit to see what the gang leader was doing. He was looking at his men while he was praying making sure that nobody laughed. I prayed that his men would not laugh while he prayed. I found out that this gang leader ran away from home when he was 12 years old. He started his own gang when he was 16. He has been been away from home for 9 1/2 years. This is the first time that he has prayed since he left home. He began to cry as he finished up his prayer. He picked his pistols up off the table and put them away. He then looked at his men and said, “After we finish breakfast, I am going home. I am not going to do this life anymore.”

That simple prayer shifted his heart. He had given his heart to Jesus Christ when he was real young. But there was that one Saturday night when his dad was drunk and beat him up really bad. That was when he ran away from home. He began to share with his men on that special day how he gave his heart to Jesus Christ. He said, “I remember they were singing ‘Amazing Grace’ as I walk forward. When Sonny read John 3:16 to me last week, that just has been gnawing at my heart. Now I’m ready to go home. You guys can do whatever you want but for me it is going home.”

I begin looking around and noticed that many of his men also began crying. I then said, “Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow is never promised to anyone, not even for me. Who wants their names written in the Lamb’s book of life?”

They all began raising their hands one by one. Even though they had not finished breakfast, they began putting their food aside. They all stood in line, and I began praying for each one. I wanted this to be a special moment for each man here, so I prayed for each man individually as the Holy Spirit led me to pray. As I was getting to the end of the line, the men began to call their parents. They shared with their parents that they had given our hearts to Jesus Christ. When I came to the leader, he said, “Sonny, I want you to walk with me. I want you to be with me when I call my dad. I have talked with my mom on her birthday and Christmas, but I have never talked to my dad since I walked away that day. I began to cry as I listened to his story. When his dad answered the phone, he asked if everything was okay. The leader replied, “No, dad I want to ask your forgiveness for what I did when I left you that day. I am sorry for everything that I said. It is okay if you don’t want to forgive me. But God will forgive me.”

His dad immediately said, “It is I who should be asking you for forgiveness for that day you left. I begin to think what I could’ve done different. It has been a rough journey, but I have given up drinking entirely. I have not touched liquor in eight years. I have given my heart to Jesus Christ and have begun serving him.”

Cartel Gives Hearts to Jesus

It was Sunday and I went down to Denver to meet with the gangs I spoke with yesterday. By the time I got finished with them it was almost dark. I was sitting on a picnic table and began thanking the Lord for what just happened. By the time all their families picked everybody up there was over 140 people there. Both gangs went home with their families.

As I was still sitting on the picnic table, I looked over to my left and noticed three black Cadillacs pulling up beside me. These are the kind of cars that the cartels drive. I said, “Lord, give me wisdom to speak to these guys.” I am not scared of them anymore because I have learned that God decides when I am going to live or die. After they stopped, five men got out of the Cadillacs. I have met this cartel before. What was unusual this time is that they did not have any weapons pointed on me. I begin thinking about when I told Blue Mustang that the only people now who point guns at me are from the cartels. Blue Mustang then said, “Let’s pray to God and ask that even cartels will put their guns away when they see the word of God.” I vividly remember that prayer that he made over me when they had their guns holstered.

The men who were nicely dressed began walking towards me. The leader came up to me and said, “You must be Sonny. We have heard that you always tell the gangs around here about Jesus Christ. You have even talk to our girls about Jesus Christ. My name is Salvador. I was also raised in church. I have forgotten what it means to serve God. I have been telling my team that I am tired of hurting people. In my profession we sell drugs to people which are devastating to their lives. I have been thinking how my profession just brings destruction to people’s life but what you do is bring life into people, just the opposite what I do. I am just sick of what I have been doing to people.”

I reminded the leader that it is the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ that provides that life into people. Only the Holy Spirit can transform a heart. He gets the glory and the victory for that.

The leader then asked, “We are here to ask that you pray for us. We got rid of everything. Now we want Jesus in our hearts. We want to start a new life and go back to our families.”

As soon as he said “families”, nine more Cadillacs pulled up. The rest of his crew showed up. I was thinking that they are angry for what their boss was about to do. But God said, “No”. They all got out of their cars and walked towards me. The leader looked over his shoulder and said, “These are all my boys. I gave them the option of serving Jesus Christ or to continue what they were doing. I have been looking for you today. When we saw your truck, we noticed that you were praying for these gangs. We wanted to make sure that we do not interfere with while you praying for them, so we just waited until they left.”

The men from the other cars came up and asked Salvador if he has given his life to Jesus Christ yet. Salvador replied, “No, I have not.”

His men then said, “Well, we are right on time then. We have been thinking about what you said. Going back to our families and starting a new life, that is what we want to do also. We are also done with this life. We are done hurting people. We don’t want to hurt people anymore.”

I began thinking about the first time I met these guys and started talking to them about Jesus Christ even though they wanted nothing to do with me. I planted seeds in their lives when I left them. Those seeds have matured and now these men want to give their lives to Jesus Christ. As all the men began given their lives to Jesus Christ, they begin to cry uncontrollably. Even more so than I’ve seen it any time while I’ve been witnessing to the gangs and cartels. God is totally healing their hearts and their minds. These guys have hurt a lot of people but surrendered it all for Jesus Christ.

They began calling their parents to tell them what they have done and that they are ready to come home. I chuckled and begin to think that I was just about done for the night and God had something cool happen just before my eyes. You can listen to the entire story below:

Valentines Cards Bring Gang to Jesus Christ

I headed off to the Commerce City park to meet the gang that my King gave me instructions to see. When I got there, I noticed that two gangs were there. Usually when I see two gangs facing each other, they are usually about ready to start fighting. But not these two gangs, they look like they were talking with each other. I had the music playing on my pickup and both gangs turned their heads in my direction. After I parked, they started walking towards me. I asked Lord what is going on here. God said, “They want to know me.”

I then proceeded to get out of my pickup and put my tailgate down so I could arrange the coolers for breakfast. The gang leader that I knew was called James. I asked, “James, what’s going on?”

James said, “I am getting tired of this life. When you gave us those valentines cards, we filled them out for our families and it made us think of what we have been missing. This gang here also wanted some of those valentines cards to give to their parents.”

I replied, “James, I have some of them for these guys right here.”

James then asked, “How can God really forgive us? We really have done a lot of bad things.”

The other gang was intently listening to our dialogue. I had no idea who these guys were. Their leader was really interested when James began talking about Jesus Christ. James then said, “We do not want to go home with broken hearts. We want to go home with transformed hearts like you said Sonny. What do we have to do to do that?”

I replied, “You just need to confess your sins to Jesus Christ and give your heart to him. He will forgive and forget your past sins.” I could tell that James was really close to giving his heart to God.

I finally found out why the other gang was here. They were getting so hungry that they felt like they had no other option but to ask the other gang if they had any food that they could share. They did not want to fight at all. James told the new gang about me always having burritos and drinks when I came. The new gang leader, who they called Isaac, said that he would stick around two see if I showed up. James then gave Isaac a big box of chips to hold them over. James had shared what he had with the new gang.

Isaac then asked, “Sonny, do you have enough burritos for us?”

I replied, “Yes, I do. You can help me get more coolers down.”

Isaac was really craving Dr. Pepper and asked me if I had any. I replied, “Yes, see that cooler over there. It is fuller of Dr. Pepper.”

Isaac then said, “Yep, that’s our favorite drink.”

They all began to eat breakfast. James came up to me and said, “I memorized the Bible verse John 3:16 you talked about last time we met.” He then quoted it to me. It wasn’t perfect but it was real close. James then shared with me that when I give him a Bible that he just threw it in the trunk of his car. But one night he could not sleep and he had to get it out and start reading it. Then he began trying to memorize that verse. He then said, “My gang and I all want to go home. We all need prayer because most of our fathers were alcoholics. We do not want to go home to fathers who are like that. That is the reason why I ran away.”

I replied, “Let’s pray over that.” I looked over at the other gang to see what they were doing. They were still intently listening to everything that was going on, not saying a single word. We began praying for the fathers of James’s gang. I then looked over at Isaac and asked him if he would like me to pray over his family. Isaac said, “Yes, that would be awesome.”

After I finished praying for the families of both gangs, James then said, “I am ready to give my heart to Jesus Christ now. I am speaking only for myself but if my men want to accept Jesus that would be great.”

His men chimed in, “Yes we too are already to go home to and accept Jesus Christ.” They began asking Jesus to forgive all their sins. Then they asked him to come into their hearts. Isaac’s gang began to cry as James’s gang made that commitment to Jesus Christ. Soon James and his gang began crying. They began asking me what is going on with me right now? I replied, “The Holy Spirit is transforming your heart right now.”

Soon all of James’s men began calling home to their parents to tell them what just happened. I looked toward Isaac and asked, “Isaac do you want your names written in the Lamb’s book of life? Just remember that tomorrow is never promised not even for me.”

Isaac replied, “Is it really that easy to have Jesus come into your life? I don’t even know if I have a home to come back to. I am not even sure if my mom and dad will even take me back.”

I replied, “God even knows their hearts. You make your heart right first and he will take care of their hearts to. You can help them with that.”

Isaac the answered, “Okay, I am going to do that. I am ready to give my heart to Jesus too.” As the Holy Spirit began to transfer Isaac’s heart he began shaking. Isaac exclaimed, “I don’t know what’s going on with me right now but I’m just shaking.”

James came over and replied, “It is Jesus transforming your heart. Now we are brothers in Jesus Christ.”

Soon Isaac began to call his father to ask for forgiveness. In the process, Isaac’s dad said, “After you left, I gave up drinking. I now serve the Lord.” Isaacs mom confirmed that everything he said was true. Isaac’s dad began to share with him all the things what they been doing to serve God and that his room was exactly as it was when he left home. They also shared that they’ve been praying for him every day.

Soon the park became full of families coming to pick up their sons to take them home. Both gangs end up giving their hearts to Jesus Christ. You can listen to the entire story here:

The 3rd Family

It was Saturday February 4th when God put into Blue Mustang’s heart that there was going to be a 3rd family. I felt it to but I wasn’t sure. So he gave me some extra money. I left for the ghetto and did not think much of it anymore. When I arrived, there were over 100 people praising God. It is always fun to watch them worship. They do not allow time to interfere with their worship. They give up their Saturday mornings because they love God. They would be rather be worshiping him then doing their own thing.

I do believe that churches should be just like these guys. We should give God whatever time that he needs. Sometimes God will enjoy just having us just give praise to his holy name. Other times he wants to give us encouragement. Or he may want to share a word to us of the prophetic. We should not prevent the Holy Spirit from doing what he wants.

After they finished worshiping, God blessed the two new families with money. I told them that there is going to be a 3rd family. The families gathered around me and began to pray for that third family. They then anointed the money that I was going to give them. It was time for me to leave. The two families that were blessed went shopping because they were very hungry. As as I left the parking lot, I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed that Lydia was still praying for me. That little girl is anointed by God.

God directed me down a different street that I haven’t been on before. I never knew that there was another grocery store here in this area. This looks like one of those mom-and-pop grocery stores. Boy, everything sure looks run down around here. This grocery store looked like it had been here a long time. I looked down the alley by the store and noticed a family behind the grocery store. I saw a grocery cart and some people standing up against the dumpsters. Soon a person from the store walked outside with a box of fruit. They put that box of fruit on a table that was outside. The family began rummaging through the fruit. I did not drive up on them right away because I wanted to make sure that that was the family that God wanted. I have seen people digging in trash cans all the time. God then said, “This is the family.”

I parked my truck on the east side of the store. I got out with my Bible and walked around the corner to where they were at. I saw the father praying to God thanking him for the fruit. His little daughter then asked, “God, if you are real, could you give us a miracle today. I am really craving cereal.”

I kept myself hidden because I did not want to interrupt their prayer time. It is something amazing just to be able to listen to people’s hearts speak. I walked up to them after they finished praying still holding my Bible. I said, “Good morning, how are you guys doing today.”

Their little daughter piped up and said, “I think it is closer to noon right now.”

I replied, “Yes, it is pretty close to lunchtime.”

She then asked, “Are you a preacher?”

I replied, “I am. I minister out on the streets. I minister to gangs, families, and the lost and the brokenhearted.”

She exclaimed, “Wow, you have quite a job!” she paused a moment then asked, “Would you like a banana?”

I almost started crying because this family did not have very much but she was willing to give some of what they had. I replied, “Sure, I will have a banana.”

She even started peeling it for me. Her dad,
Samuel said, “Could you pray for us? We really could use a miracle right now. We need groceries today.”

I prayed with them. As I finished, I said, “Let me tell you something about who Blue Mustang is and how God is using him to bless families who need help.” I then gave them testimonies on how God is using Blue Mustang to help families in the ghetto area.

Samuel then said, “That would be a miracle today.” He then pointed and said, “We live over there.” It was like one of those buildings where a bunch of families lived together in a complex. Such each apartment has two bedrooms. They are very small. He then said, “I have started a job at the oil refinery in Commerce City. But I will not get paid until Wednesday. We are really hungry right now and we are stretched out to the limit right now.”

His son Joshua stepped in and said, “The only thing that we have is one Apple in our refrigerator.”

I looked at Joshua and asked, “Joshua, do you believe in miracles?”

He said, “Yes, I am a even a miracle. When I was born I only weighed 4 pounds but look at me now. I am strong and healthy but I sure could use some Cap’n Crunch cereal right now.”

I began to cry. I just could not hold back the tears. I knew that God did not want me to hold them back. The little boy came over and began hugging me saying, “Everything is going to be all right mister. God is faithful.”

He said that not knowing what I was about to do. I finally gave them the money. As they began to count it, Joshua was watching. He said, “We are now multimillionaires.”

A girl and the manager of the store came out to greet us. They said, “We have heard everything that you guys have been talking about. How can we not help out with this family.” The girl said, “We have a grocery cart going for you guys. I have loaded it with Cap’n Crunch cereal but haven’t got the milk yet because we don’t wanted to spoil.”

Before everybody went inside the store, they prayed with me. As the family walked inside, the manager said, “I am going to pay half their bill. I know how it is to not have anything. I also know what it’s like to have plenty. It is right thing to do. God bless Blue Mustang whoever he is.”

Joshua turned around and asked, “Is Blue Mustang a car or something?”

I said, “No, he is not car but he definitely has one.”

Joshua replied, “He is our new hero!”

It is time for me to leave now because of the gangs I need to talk to. As I headed down the street, I noticed fire trucks parked in the direction that I was going. I could not continue because they blocked the entire street. So I began to back up. One of the firefighters came over and asked, “Are you Sonny? Because I have seen your truck over on the east side. I have seen you witnessing to the gangs. What are you up to?”

I began to share with him the testimony of what happened. He then asked, “Is there really a grocery store down that road?”

I then told him it doesn’t really look much like a store. After he heard about what the manager did with the family he said, “We are going to go by there later to buy our groceries.”

That store does not get that many customers because of where it is located. The fire department went there and bought all their groceries there for the week. This really blessed that store because not many people go there. The fire department filled the grocery cart full of groceries. When they went to check out, that manager began to cry. They spent a lot of money there today. The manager then said, “Come back anytime.”

The firefighter then said, “I am going to tell our other shifts to come here. We just did not know you were here.”

Just because the manager blessed his family, God brought the fire department to the manager’s store. God really does believe in blessing those who bless others. You can listen to the entire story here:

Family Receives a Car

It was Saturday and I went back down to the ghetto see the new families that our King provided for us. When I arrived, there were over a 100 people worshipping our awesome God. God loves our worship. Being his children and we refused to do that, the rocks themselves will worship our God. These families in the ghetto have learned to worship God even before they receive a thing. They do not care who is watching or even walking by. They sing loudly just praising God. They do not ever watch what time it is. They physically concentrate on worshipping our King. They do not even know if I’m going to show up. But this does not stop them from worshiping.

What was different about this time was that Lydia’s mom began singing a song about Blue Mustang. She wrote a song in her own words. She has a beautiful voice as she sang it. Lydia and all the other kids were in the middle of the circle just dancing while they were praising God. It is interesting how these families worship God. They get in a circle and for protection they put the children in the center, the wives are in the next layer and the men stand around their family members to protect them just in case anybody would drive by and start shooting. I just love the way African American people sing. They will sing “Amazing Grace” without any music and yet when it comes out of their mouths, it is so beautiful. I remember the words that Blue Mustang gave me. He said, “You know because you are out witnessing every weekand, these families give you the opportunity to come together in a body and to worship God . You need fellowship just like everybody else.”

They never get tired of worshipping God. They always sing praises to our Lord for 1 to 2 hours. When everybody else feels they have to have Saturday for themselves, they bring glory to God. They even go to church on Sunday and worship him again.

They finished up the service by Lydia’s dad thanking God for the worship time. Then he anointed the new families that were about to be blessed. The two families were related by brother and sister. They were there with their spouses and they began praying for Blue Mustang. They prayed even though Blue Mustang may not show up today, that we are still going to pray and thank you for what just happened today and the people who were there supporting them.

Even though I was hiding and listening to the service, Lydia eventually saw me. She always yells out my name and comes running towards me. She exclaimed, “I knew that you would be coming. God even said that you were going to be here.”

They then began worshipping again thanking God again. Lydia then asked, “Are we ready for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and the extra for inflation.” I begin laying the money out on the family’s hands and Lydia continued, “The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” When I lay down the twenty she said, “This is the extra for inflation.”

They do a good job of keeping the amount of money secret that Blue Mustang gives each time. It is always a shock to them to see the amount amount of money that they are given to go grocery shopping. They always begin crying when they realize that they are going to have enough to buy food.

There were two girls who worked at the grocery store that came out and they were crying. Lydia asked, “Why are you girls crying?”

They said, “It was because of you and your parents that you shared Jesus Christ to us. We gave our hearts to Jesus Christ just because of you guys. We were watching you guys worshipping and loving God. It is very emotional to watch you guys worshiping the Lord. We have learned how to worship the Lord by watching what you guys do. You guys definitely know how to worship.”

These girls have led their parents and their grandparents to the Lord. After they gave their hearts to Jesus Christ, their lives have not been the same ever since. Many times the girls bring out snacks for the families when they arrive.

Before I left, the new family’s anointed me. They then laid hands on me that God would protect me. They also prayed for Blue Mustang that he would always be able to continue doing God’s ministry.

After they finish praying over me, this old couple came up to us. The man said, “My wife and I were losing faith. We felt like we were in a big rut. But when we heard you guys worshipping and singing all those old hymns, you requindled a new love for Jesus Christ.”

Lydia then begins telling them everything. She started talking about Blue Mustang what he does and then immediately told them what I did. She especially liked telling them about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit when laying out the money.

They asked her, “So Blue Mustang supplies money for families that are struggling.”

Lydia replied, “Yes, God is amazing.”

Rachel then stepped in and said, “He is spirit lead. He doesn’t do it for himself but he does it for the glory of God.”

The old couple then replied, “You know what! We want to buy your guys’s groceries. You can keep that money for gasoline.”

One of the family spoke up and said, “We cannot do that. We do not have a car.”

The old couple replied, “You do not have a car. We have an extra car. My wife does not want to drive anymore. None of our kids like the car because it is a 71 Oldsmobile. They say it looks like a boat. But you are welcome to have it.”

That family became excited that they were about ready to get a car. The old couple then went to bring the car back to that family. The car only had 71000 miles on it. It was a beautiful car and they gave it away. You can listen to the rest of the story below:

Gang Needing Prayer Ends Up Giving Hearts to Jesus

It was Saturday and my King sent me to a park near Commerce City. The gang was running late so I call Blue Mustang to talk to him about the families that I met earlier. Shorty into our conversation, all of these cars started showing up. This gang had arrived. There are 29 men in this gang. As they got out of their cars, they began walking towards me. I reached into the back of my pickup and began pulling out the coolers. As I looked over the bed of my pickup, I could see another gang pull up on the other side of my pick up.

That gang got out of their car and walked towards me. The leader of that gang they called him Salvador. He looked towards the other gang leader and said, “Hey Marty, I don’t wanna fight with you. I know that we are enemies and we usually fight with each other. I saw Sonny’s truck and I just want to talk to him. A lot of our family members are very sick right now. We are going to ask Sonny to pray for them.”

Marty replied, “Sure that’s OK. If your parents are sick, that is cool that you are asking for Sonny to pray for them.”

Salvador then continued, “Yeah, I think that our parents all have Covid 19. I am just here for prayer.” I then began praying for each gang member’s parents that were sick. I prayed directly to God asking that he would bring healing to their bodies and restore their health. I then noticed that some of Marty’s men were crying. I felt in my spirit that the Lord was really getting hold of this gang of Salvador’s.

After I finish praying, I said, “I have been talking to you guys a lot about Jesus Christ for a long time. Tomorrow is never promised not even for me.” I then began looking at both gangs and continued, “Are there any of you who want to give your heart to Jesus Christ now and go back to your families?”

The men who were crying from Salvador’s gang said, “We are tired of the life we are living. I am tired of getting into fights and getting shot at everyday. I want to go home. I do not know if my parents want to take me back but I just want to go home.” Those five men from Salvador’s gang then gave their hearts to Jesus Christ. They then immediately began calling their parents. Four Men from Marty’s gang said, “We want to go home too. We too are tired of living this life. We want our hearts to be transformed like you said Sonny before we go home. I want to forgive my dad for what he has done. We are ready.” They too began crying. I then noticed other of Salvador’s men began walking away. It appeared to be talking on their cell phones. I assumed that they were calling home also.

Salvador then came to me and said, “Here I came here just for prayer, but I ended up losing my whole gang. All their families are coming for them. I better join them. I do not have a gang anymore.”

I then said, “Now you belong to a Christian gang. You can serve God.”

Salvador then replied, “That sounds like a good idea.” He then gave his heart to God. He then pulled his cellphone out and called his parents and told them what he did. His parents were too sick to come and get him. But his parents immediately began crying because they were waiting for this day. I began thinking how Salvador’s game only wanted to come for prayer but ended up giving their hearts to Jesus Christ today.

After Salvador’s gang finished giving their hearts to Jesus Christ, we begin to eat breakfast. One of his men came to me and said, “You know my stomach just cannot take that spicy food anymore. Do you have anything else.”

I replied, “You see that Brown bag over there. There are some burritos that aren’t spicy at all. Those are just sausage, egg, and potato burritos.”

He had a big smile on his face and said, “Praise God! He is already answering my prayer!”

Soon the parents of Salvador’s gang began showing up. Marty’s gang also noticed what was going on. They too began thinking of all the things that they were missing by being away from home. They too began giving their hearts to Jesus Christ. You can listen to the entire story below:

School Bus Salvation

Now that the new year has started I was thinking back about one of the most unusual things that God had me do last year. I do believe that a school bus that brought a gang to accept Jesus Christ was probably the most unusual thing that he did. This all started about mid December when God asked me to go see several gangs. He had me pick up Christmas cards for each gang to fill out. He asked me to have them to write down things that they would like to share with their parents. The gangs accepted their cards and some begin filling them out right away. We had burritos and I talked with them about Jesus Christ while they ate. But they still were not ready to give their hearts to Jesus and I eventually left. My King already has made plans for me to see one of these gangs again next week.

It was Thursday of next week and I was speaking to the highway patrolman that night. After the meeting, which was cut short because of other activities, God had me go speak to that gang with the time that I had left. God said, “Before you go, I want you to get a school bus.”

I began to think maybe God was losing it because I could see nothing coming from this. But I have learned that God usually has some plan that I just cannot see. Of course being this late, where would you pick up a school bus at this time of night. But I remembered that the undercover police had buses in their garage. I asked, “My King needs a school bus.” At first they thought maybe I was losing it it but they knew from past experiences that I was serious. They weren’t sure at first but they finally let me have one. Then they asked, “Have you ever driven a bus before?”

I said, “No, but it can’t be any worse than riding a horse.” They chuckled at my reply. They said, “We we’ll show you how to run one.” They showed me where all the switches and the bus things were just in case I had to stop at a railroad track. They then had me practice in the parking lot driving it forward then backing up just to make sure I felt comfortable. I am sure that I was not that comfortable because I had a lot of fear driving something that big on the street. I told the undercover police to pray for me. I then left the lot and headed towards the gang’s home that God wanted me to see. Eventually, my King told me why I needed to get this bus. When I got to their home, some of the gang members came out to greet me. They looked like they were about ready to start shooting at me. When I open the bus door they saw who was sitting in the bus. The leader said, “Geewiz Sonny, we didn’t know that was you in that bus! We were about ready to start shooting at you! Did you trade your monster truck in for a bus?”

I replied, “No, My King told me to bring this bus. He wants us to go cruising together to view the Christmas lights.”

The other gang members said, “Wow! that sounds like fun.” They were like children and started running towards the bus.

The gang leader standing all alone said, “I guess it looks like we’re going to view Christmas lights tonight.” So he climbed on board with his men and we started heading out to view the lights. Everybody was quiet so I got on the buses microphone and said, “Hey guys, shouldn’t you guys be going ‘ooh’ and ‘aww’ as we see these cool lighting displays.”

They chuckled as I said that. I know that they were thinking about the past before they became gang members about these things they did around Christmas. They we’re beginning to miss all of this. Finally I said, “Let’s go to Parker. I know they’ll have some fancy lights displays.” We headed towards Parker and turned into one of the fancy developments. The people out walking gave us a strange looks. They never have seen a bus here at this time of night.

I turned to the leader and asked, “What Christmas traditions did you do during Christmas?”

He shared, “Mom would make tamales and cookies. She would do all kinds of baking.” He continued to share some of the things that he did and finally confessed, “My folks lived in this area and we are just a few blocks away from them.”

I suggested, “Let’s go and see your parents. They will surely be surprised.”

The leader had not seen his parents in almost 7 years and hesitated. He replied, ” I am not sure that my dad will want to see me. I left on bad terms. He may never forgive me.”

I said, “You will never know unless you try.”

He finally give me directions to his home. When we got there his parents came out to greet us. They were surprised to see a school bus in front of their home. But they were even more surprised when their son came out of the bus. He immediately went and talked privately with his dad. His mom invited all of us to come into the house. Sure enough just as he said, his mom was making tamales and making cookies as their family always did. As the leader was talking to his dad they started apologizing to each other about what happened years ago.

The leader said, “Dad, I really left on a bad foot. I said some pretty nasty things too. I am just asking for your forgiveness.”

His dad replied, “Son, I just want to say I’m sorry for anything that I did to cause this.” His parents already knew the Lord so he understood what he must do. They started crying and hugging each other. Then the leader came to me and said, “Sonny, I want to come home. I want to give my life to Jesus Christ.”

I looked around to see what his men were thinking about this, but I noticed most of them had left the room and they were on their phones. They too were calling home. All of their parents were coming to pick them up. His men too wanted to go home and they too wanted to give their hearts to Jesus Christ. They just wanted to make sure that their hearts were right with God before they went home.

It is interesting that just filling out a Christmas card which the entire gang sent their cards out. This prepared their hearts for what I was doing tonight. God then use that school bus and the Christmas lights to bring this gang to Salvation. God gets the Glory and the Victory.

A lot of healing took place at the leader’s home. We ate everything that his mom had prepared for Christmas but she didn’t care. After praying for everybody and watching the unsaved families give their hearts to Jesus Christ, it was time to go. I needed to let their sons go so they communicate with their families. I then took the bus back to the garage where I got it. I parked it back inside the shed where I found it. As I drove into the buses parking spot, I noticed on the chalkboard that there were names on that board and next to their names were their prediction on how many bullet holes would be in that school bus. One guy said that I would have one bullet hole and one guy was as high as seven bullet holes. But the man there who knew God and talked about Jesus Christ all the time wrote “zero – When God Is Watching Over You nothing will happen.” Of course this man won the bet.

Before I went home I checked the condition of the bus. Even though we had pizza on the bus, the gang members left the bus really clean and they did no damage to the interior at all. I was about ready to go in and sweep up what little there was but the undercover police told me that we will take care of it.

Even though it was supposed to be private, everybody from the undercover police knew that I took out the bus. It was interesting that the captain said, “You guys are not to allow him to take a bus by himself. You should have drove him.”

All his men said, “No way are we were picking up gangs. That could be dangerous. They may even shoot at us.” The captain dropped it knowing they were right and said everything is okay. This reminds me about how much my King protects me as I complete his ministry. But I would not give this up for anything.

Christmas Card Miracle

It is Saturday and it is time for me to witness to more gangs. I was looking for a new gang from Dallas Texas. I thought that maybe because of the cold weather that I would be forced to meet them at their homes. But the weather turned out to be nicer then I thought so I headed to the park that’s near Commerce City. Sure enough when I got there they were gangs there but not the one I was looking for. There were two gangs facing each other but no weapons were drawn. I recognized both of these gangs and the leaders were having a peaceful discussion. I stopped my pickup and got out to put my tailgate down. I saw five men running towards me from one gang. They shouted, “Hey Sonny, let us help you with those heavy coolers. We have been waiting for you and we are craving Dr Pepper badly.”

As they began lifting the cooler down, I asked, “How is it that both of your gangs are talking to each other? You always fight with each other.”

One man replied, “We are done fighting. Those Christmas cards that you had us fill out to send to our parents. It really messed us up. When we thought about our parents, past Christmases, and began writing things down it made us cry. We have a surprise for you SONNY. I wrote a song about forgiveness to my mom and dad. I know that God will forgive me if I forgive my parents.”

When he sang it to me I was impressed on how amazing his voice was. I really believe God will use his voice for his Kingdom. I then went over to the leaders and began starting a conversation with them. They immediately asked, “Sonny, can God really forgive us. We have done a lot of bad things. We have already called our parents to ask for forgiveness from them. Even though our parents did bad things to us, we were not much better in the way we treated them. We want Jesus to be able to forgive us. ”

I began to notice cars starting to show up. The one leader continued, “We have not been a gang for two weeks. The first thing we did was make things right with our parents. They are coming at 2pm to meet us. The next thing, as you said, is to get our hearts right with God. We want to do that before we go home.”

What happened next is amazing. Listen to the entire story:
