I also do not hear people talking about the significance of these next verses. He is talking about spiritual things: John 6:53-58 NLT 53 So Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. 54 But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.” Jesus demonstrated here what he was talking about above: Matthew 26:26-28 NLT 26 As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, 28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. These verses talk more about the body of Jesus: John 4:34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. 1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, This brings us to the next act of carnage. Jesus is not into the "Saw" movies as described in these verses: Mark 9:42-48 NLT 42 “But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands. 45 If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one foot than to be thrown into hell with two feet. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It’s better to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where the maggots never die and the fire never goes out.’ We also know that our minds can cause us to sin: Matthew 5:27-28 NLT 27 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your mind causes you to sin, you need to cut your head off. We all know that would be suicide and God can't use dead people to fulfill his will. What metaphor Jesus is saying, we need to use drastic measures to keep from sinning. We may have to dump our so called friends and separate ourselves from temptations that may be in our homes or at work. If we don't eliminate these temptations now, hell may be the only option we have. Both of these topics are spiritual in nature and we have to treat them as such in order to understand them. Jesus is still Lord!!!!!!! 11/04/2025 Now you know you are physically close to God when this happens: Exodus 34:29-35 NLT 29 When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. 30 So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him. It took a long time before this glow to wear off of Mose's face. Jesus's disciples had a chance to witness this presence of God first hand by being there with Jesus: Luke 9:29-31 NLT 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30 Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. 31 They were glorious to see. And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem. Other than being a spectacular site, what was meant by "were speaking about his exodus from this world"? Because we serve a Holy God, Jesus was sent to fix this problem of sin that keeps us away from God's presence. His shed blood allows us to enter into the throne room of God. I feel Jesus was to answer to all generations past and present. Everyone has been waiting for Jesus to fulfill prophecy. I know they were encouraging Jesus and talking about all the prophecy that was about to be fulfilled. Could you imagine that in the short period of time left, that all who God has called will be able to enter the presence of God in heaven. I am sure they told Jesus about the great thing that was about to happen when he was done with his calling. Man, now that is inspiration! Again this is my opinion. It sure does make you think about their conversation they must have had!
